Ive had a LOT of people asking...

W
hat sort of guitar is that?
& where are the pick ups?

The guitar I do my most of my instructional videos with is a Line 6 Variax.

I like to call it 'the magic guitar'. Hidden under the bridge are six special pickups, one for each string. The signal passes through a little computer hidden
at the back of the guitar that allows you to digitally tune each string to a different note at the flick of a switch.

The guitar has an extra knob that makes it sound like different sorts of guitars. Electrics, hollow bodies, acoustic, banjo, sitar. Its obviously not 100% accurate but very surprisingly close.

Even better is the fact you can run it into your computer and control everything with a software editor and save those settings back to the guitar.

A great feeling guitar for its price range and awesome tool for recording.

You can buy one from Musician's Recommend for about $800
(you can also buy second hand from them click the 'used' tab.)

What do you use for your guitar sounds?
I use a POD XT Live floor board. The sounds aren't as good as an amp miced with pedals but it's tidy, convenient, works great with the Variax, fits mixely under my desk and is very user friendly to operate.

They are a few years old now so you can pick them up for a great price. The new model is called X3 and really aren't much better in my opinion.

Your acoustic, what sort is that?
My steel string acoustic is a Tanglewood TW45 DLX FPP. Its about 5 years old now and is a really good axe for its price range. Plus, its gold hardware is pretty :)

How old were you when you started playing?
I was in grade 8, so about 14. I was by no means a fast learner, F chord took me close to a month to play clearly every time. Despite this, guitar soon become my #1 passion and I began improving in leaps and bounds.

What was your first guitar?
My very first guitar was a Yamaha C40 nylon string acoustic given to my sister and me by my uncle.

What was your first electric guitar?

It was a Black Daion Electric with red lightnight cracks all over it. Almost as horrible to play as it was to look, I bought it for $224 with money I made from mowing lawns. I was very proud :)

What was your first amp?
I couldnt afford amp until about a year after I got my electric guitar. Until then I played through this aweful gorilla amp.

What was your first pedal?
My first pedal was a Zoom 1010 multi FX pedal. I loved messing around with the different sound combinations. The distortion sounds were all pretty buzz everything else wasnt to bad.

How do you keep organised running so many youtube channels?
Aside from good old reminders in my diary I use a really cool free service called Memo to me. You set it up to send reminder emails to yourself at a given time each day, week, month etc. You can also use it for one off reminders. Super handy, check it out here
